(en r\u00e9alit\u00e9, le sujet est glissant depuis un sacr\u00e9 bout de temps d\u00e9j\u00e0\u2026)<br>En y allant, j&#8217;en \u00e9tais conscient et l&#8217;exp\u00e9rience l&#8217;a confirm\u00e9 : c&#8217;\u00e9tait un film &#8220;politique&#8221; !<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Voil\u00e0 le th\u00e8me de ce billet : la politique en art, avec l&#8217;exemple de quelques films qui valent le d\u00e9tour. Ils abordent en effet, chacun \u00e0 leur mani\u00e8re, des questions compliqu\u00e9es et apportent finalement une petite pierre \u00e0 l&#8217;\u00e9difice complexe de nos soci\u00e9t\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>&#8220;Ce qu&#8217;il reste de nous&#8221; (2025)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ce long m\u00e9trage \u00e9crit, r\u00e9alis\u00e9 et produit r\u00e9cemment par Cherien Dabis, laquelle interpr\u00e8te aussi l&#8217;un des r\u00f4les f\u00e9minins principaux, porte sur la vie des &#8220;Palestiniens&#8221; depuis le d\u00e9part des britanniques en 1948.<br>Voil\u00e0 qui est clair : c&#8217;est un point de vue palestinien.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"618\" height=\"310\" src=\"https:\/\/volkanartz.chauss.in\/app\/uploads\/2026\/05\/image-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1923\" srcset=\"https:\/\/volkanartz.chauss.in\/app\/uploads\/2026\/05\/image-1.png 618w, https:\/\/volkanartz.chauss.in\/app\/uploads\/2026\/05\/image-1-250x125.png 250w, https:\/\/volkanartz.chauss.in\/app\/uploads\/2026\/05\/image-1-18x9.png 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 618px) 100vw, 618px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Cherien Dabis during the movie production<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"CE QU&#039;IL RESTE DE NOUS de Cherien Dabis - Bande-annonce VOSTFR\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/EVthjMkvV4A?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While clearly looking from one side, the film (thankfully) approaches the subject with considerable restraint:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Tout d&#8217;abord, on parcoure cette p\u00e9riode compliqu\u00e9e (de 1948 \u00e0 nos jours) en observant les tribulations d&#8217;une famille. C&#8217;est un proc\u00e9d\u00e9 assez classique, et plut\u00f4t bienvenu, qui permet d&#8217;\u00e9voquer la grande &#8220;Histoire&#8221; \u00e0 travers la petite histoire des gens normaux. En l&#8217;occurrence, il s&#8217;agit de notables de Jaffa, qui perdent leur maison, leur exploitation et, bien s\u00fbr, leur train de vie, \u00e0 l&#8217;occasion des guerres israelo-arabes, cons\u00e9cutives au d\u00e9part des britanniques et \u00e0 l&#8217;\u00e9tablissement de l&#8217;\u00e9tat d&#8217;Isra\u00ebl.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dans ce contexte, la retenue politique est de mise : ce th\u00e8me \u00e9tant de nature \u00e0 ali\u00e9ner d&#8217;embl\u00e9e une partie des spectateurs, il ne s&#8217;agissait pas d&#8217;y aller \u00e0 la bourrin. Or, le pari de Madame Dabis est tenu : en d\u00e9pit d&#8217;\u00e9v\u00e8nements parfois tr\u00e8s graves, elle approche les \u00e9v\u00e8nements avec une certaine finesse et se garde bien de condamner le peuple isra\u00e9lien.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>En revanche, elle n&#8217;h\u00e9site pas non plus \u00e0 \u00e9voquer la brutalit\u00e9 de ceux qui portent une arme entre les mains. Pardonnez-moi la r\u00e9f\u00e9rence, mais on pourrait \u00e9voquer cette phrase : &#8220;il y a ceux qui sont du bon c\u00f4t\u00e9 du revolver et ceux qui creusent&#8221;. En soi, pour peu qu&#8217;on s&#8217;int\u00e9resse \u00e0 la &#8220;banalit\u00e9 du mal&#8221;, l&#8217;id\u00e9e est que tout le monde peut faire le mal (et peut-\u00eatre m\u00eame jusqu&#8217;au mal absolu, notamment le meurtre), pour peu qu&#8217;on soit plac\u00e9 dans ces circonstances suffisamment terribles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Out of this, the director draws a compelling argument: in a world where brute force seems to override human dignity, how can one avoid breeding frustration, tension, and the thirst for revenge? And how does anyone find a way out of that spiral, without a tragic end?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The film's final act \u2014 which I won't spoil here \u2014 suggests, despite all the tragedy, a certain form of redemption and even dialogue. And in the current climate, that ending is genuinely welcome! (Even if it is a bit consensus-seeking\u2026 but that's forgivable.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pour le reste, c&#8217;est un film manifestement taill\u00e9 pour l&#8217;export et la diffusion en Occident : tr\u00e8s belles images, r\u00e9alisation soign\u00e9e et jeu d&#8217;acteur sobre &#8211; on pourrait presque \u00e9crire &#8220;\u00e0 l&#8217;am\u00e9ricaine&#8221; !<br>Du reste, l&#8217;ami qui m&#8217;accompagnait au cin\u00e9ma \u00e0 cette occasion s&#8217;est m\u00eame trouv\u00e9 d\u00e9\u00e7u par le c\u00f4t\u00e9 m\u00e9lodramatique (mais pas &#8220;pathos&#8221;), exacerb\u00e9 par les violons un peu larmoyants. De plus, je garde l&#8217;intime conviction que c&#8217;est en appr\u00e9hendant les r\u00e9alit\u00e9s de la vie d&#8217;autrui qu&#8217;on peut le comprendre, m\u00eame partiellement, et finalement apprendre \u00e0 se respecter les uns les autres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cette \u0153uvre renvoie aussi \u00e0 d&#8217;autres film politiques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>De la question de l&#8217;art politique, par l&#8217;exemple<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">J&#8217;ai longtemps craint, au moins dans ma jeunesse, la dimension politique dans l&#8217;art. Elle me paraissait souvent grossi\u00e8re et malvenue.<br>Michael Chekhov lui-m\u00eame la d\u00e9non\u00e7ait et pour cause : dans la Russie bolchevique, qui allait devenir URSS, tout \u00e9tait politique et il n&#8217;y avait plus de place pour un &#8220;simple&#8221; Hamlet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Plus tard, \u00e0 force d&#8217;observer le monde et d&#8217;accumuler les questionnements sur son fonctionnement et, en particulier, sur l&#8217;injustice, j&#8217;ai compris que nous ne devons pas avoir peur des dimensions &#8220;politiques&#8221; de l\u2019art (politique dans son sens noble, en tout cas) : en effet, toute \u0153uvre qui s&#8217;int\u00e9resse \u00e0 un enjeu de soci\u00e9t\u00e9 est d\u00e9j\u00e0 politique.<br>Cela ne pervertir pas forc\u00e9ment l&#8217;\u0153uvre et ne la rend pas n\u00e9cessairement militante non plus, et encore moins affili\u00e9e \u00e0 un parti. Lorsqu&#8217;elle exprime une tension sociale, sans forc\u00e9ment nous faire la le\u00e7on (Dieu merci !), elle a toute sa place dans le champ artistique, ne serait-ce que pour nous permettre de nous titiller \u00e9motionnellement, encourager ensuite nos propres analyses, voire alimenter l\u2019inconscient collectif.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">J&#8217;en suis d&#8217;autant plus convaincu que j&#8217;ai moi-m\u00eame s\u00e9vi avec des chansons \u00e0 texte, en \u00e9voquant par exemple les horreurs de la guerre (un sujet actuellement brulant et moins na\u00eff qu&#8217;on pourrait le croire), ou encore la tentation du totalitarisme. Je pr\u00e9pare par ailleurs une nouvelle chanson sur l&#8217;eug\u00e9nisme &#8211; \u00e7a va \u00eatre chaud !<br>Bref, dans chacun de ces exemples, la cr\u00e9ation \u00e9tait port\u00e9e par une id\u00e9e et, je l&#8217;avoue, par une r\u00e9volte contre des syst\u00e8mes. Puisse cette impression s&#8217;\u00e9tendre \u00e0 d&#8217;autres, pour que le monde finisse par changer un peu !<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pour revenir au Proche Orient, j&#8217;ai ainsi le souvenir de deux films tout \u00e0 fait recommandables et qui ont su, eux aussi, conserver cette \u00ab retenue \u00bb n\u00e9cessaire<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Les citronniers (2008), d&#8217;Eran Riklis<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An exceptional Franco-German-Israeli film that explores Israeli-Palestinian tensions through a garden \u2014 actually, a lemon grove \u2014 threatened with demolition. Ils devront tant bien que mal se d\u00e9brouiller avec les locaux.<br>A gentle, deeply touching film, that quietly navigates border tensions and cultural divides \u2014 highly recommended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"La visite de la fanfare\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/P2bcL6A0ux4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Band&#039;s Visit | Official Trailer (2007)\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QWYlLb0jm8U?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\"A Dry White Season\" (1989), directed by Euzhan Palcy<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This one is older and set in a very different context: apartheid-era South Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Il est plus dur \u00e0 encaisser et, d&#8217;ailleurs, d\u2019une autre port\u00e9e.<br>Somewhat dated in cinematographic style \u2014 very much of the mid-to-late seventies \u2014 it nevertheless retains an exceptional dramatic force. Again, this is not an epic or an Oscar-bait production, but a small, human-scale film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Its power lies, I believe, in its dramatic structure. Let's take an average viewer \u2014 the kind I was at the time \u2014 who knows next to nothing about apartheid beyond what they were taught in a two-hour history class.<br>Drop them into the action, which unfolds at a human scale: first, we follow Black children protesting for the right to be taught in English; then, a Black gardener searching for his son, from whom he has had no news; and finally, that gardener's employer \u2014 a man of \"respectable white society\" (Bourgeoise), the kind who never really looked at \u2014 let alone questioned \u2014 the police infrastructure underpinning the apartheid system.<br>Like that man, the viewer will discover, and even experience, things that seem inconceivable. Like him, they will be gripped by dread, shaken to the core \u2014 and changed.<br>And like any whistleblower \u2014 since no one is a prophet in their own land \u2014 our protagonist will be misunderstood and cast out by his own circle.
