Ce n&#8217;est tout de m\u00eame pas tous les jours qu&#8217;une compagnie de ce calibre passe par chez nous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1310\" height=\"696\" src=\"https:\/\/volkanartz.chauss.in\/app\/uploads\/2026\/04\/image.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1887\" srcset=\"https:\/\/volkanartz.chauss.in\/app\/uploads\/2026\/04\/image.png 1310w, https:\/\/volkanartz.chauss.in\/app\/uploads\/2026\/04\/image-800x425.png 800w, https:\/\/volkanartz.chauss.in\/app\/uploads\/2026\/04\/image-250x133.png 250w, https:\/\/volkanartz.chauss.in\/app\/uploads\/2026\/04\/image-768x408.png 768w, https:\/\/volkanartz.chauss.in\/app\/uploads\/2026\/04\/image-18x10.png 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1310px) 100vw, 1310px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I believe that sharing this experience might be of some interest, because :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Des impressions positives, tout d&#8217;abord, car c&#8217;\u00e9tait un spectacle de qualit\u00e9 ;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Des r\u00e9flexions \u00e0 propos du &#8220;nouveau cirque&#8221; et sur la question artistique en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">OVO : a pretty fine show<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Parlons tout d&#8217;abord du spectacle en lui-m\u00eame, avec une r\u00e8gle de base : voir tout d&#8217;abord les qualit\u00e9s !<br>And for sure, there were a lot of fine aspects in this show :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Tout d&#8217;abord, le c\u00f4t\u00e9 &#8220;big show \u00e0 l&#8217;anglo-saxone&#8221; s&#8217;applique ici parfaitement (et de fait, le Cirque du Soleil est originaire de Montr\u00e9al) et c&#8217;est plut\u00f4t positif. On d\u00e9nombrait au moins 40 circassiens sur sc\u00e8ne, avec probablement une \u00e9quipe technique importante en arri\u00e8re plan, force effets sonores et lumineux, une sc\u00e9nographie g\u00e9n\u00e9reuse et de nombreux costumes bien ficel\u00e9s. On en prend donc plein les yeux et les oreilles &#8211; du bon divertissement ! Dans le m\u00eame esprit, nous pouvions nous attendre \u00e0 un grand professionnalisme, tant vis \u00e0 vis du niveau technique \u00e9vident des circassiens, impeccables, qu&#8217;au niveau de la technique sc\u00e9nique, en particulier de la synchronisation sonore en direct.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>En comparaison d&#8217;autres cirques plus classiques et ind\u00e9pendants, on gagne au Cirque du Soleil une v\u00e9ritable coh\u00e9rence, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 cet univers unificateur &#8211; ici, le th\u00e8me assez porteur des insectes &#8211; lequel th\u00e8me lie le spectacle d&#8217;un bout \u00e0 l&#8217;autre. La sc\u00e9nographie et les costumes sont ainsi tr\u00e8s aboutis, et permettent \u00e0 la fois d&#8217;offrir une grande dynamique sc\u00e9nique et une vari\u00e9t\u00e9 int\u00e9ressante (on ne s&#8217;ennuie pas\u2026 trop).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A titre d&#8217;exemple, le premier &#8220;num\u00e9ro&#8221; fonctionnait particuli\u00e8rement bien, car il int\u00e9grait parfaitement cet univers d&#8217;insectes, ici les fourmis rouges jouant avec leur nourriture, avec une pointe d&#8217;humour et de l\u00e9g\u00e8ret\u00e9 bienvenue :<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"778\" height=\"521\" src=\"https:\/\/volkanartz.chauss.in\/app\/uploads\/2026\/04\/image-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1888\" srcset=\"https:\/\/volkanartz.chauss.in\/app\/uploads\/2026\/04\/image-1.png 778w, https:\/\/volkanartz.chauss.in\/app\/uploads\/2026\/04\/image-1-250x167.png 250w, https:\/\/volkanartz.chauss.in\/app\/uploads\/2026\/04\/image-1-768x514.png 768w, https:\/\/volkanartz.chauss.in\/app\/uploads\/2026\/04\/image-1-18x12.png 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 778px) 100vw, 778px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As for the rest, I bet that the photos below can express the overall quality - or it should, as they are taken from the promotional material of the company ! au suivant, comme dirait Brel\u2026 ce qui \u00e9tait le pire service \u00e0 rendre aux circassiens : par la r\u00e9p\u00e9tition (ad nauseam) de l\u2019extraordinaire, celui-ci devient finalement banal.<br>This very show, OVO, falls in the same traps : of course, the performances are great, the bodies are beautiful to look at, but honestly, it gets boring after a while\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Worse of it all : the clowns were very bad !<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Etant &#8211; comme vous le savez si vous avez lu d&#8217;autres billets de ce blog &#8211; un passionn\u00e9 de th\u00e9\u00e2tre (et le clown est, \u00e0 mon avis, l&#8217;une des formes les plus \u00e9lev\u00e9es de l&#8217;art de l&#8217;acteur), je ne pouvais qu&#8217;en \u00eatre atterr\u00e9.\u00a0<br>En r\u00e9alit\u00e9, on comprend vite que la seule fonction de ces clowns est celle d&#8217;assurer (tant bien que mal) la transition et ils n\u2019assurent m\u00eame pas celle d\u2019une respiration (ce qui se ressent dans le public et en particulier chez les enfants).<br>Actually, it was like it in most circus show that I've experienced so far - and that's a real shame !<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Or, un clown, ce n&#8217;est pas juste un nez rouge au milieu de la figure, ou une d\u00e9marche singuli\u00e8re ; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To be fair, if the part of the clown is limited to this transitions phases, like what we've seen in OVO, then I also understand that true clowns are keen in doing something else.<br>Par exemple, en France, il existe une compagnie merveilleuse de clowns, &#8220;26 000 couverts&#8221; &#8211; et \u00e7a, c\u2019est bien !<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To get back to the circus, let's also admit that in a traditional tent, the audience is closer to the performer. That allows to have a better look at faces and, somewhat, a glimpse into the personalities of those performers.<br>Au contraire, dans ce spectacle du Cirque du Soleil, format\u00e9 pour les grandes salles polyvalentes, on ne distingue en r\u00e9alit\u00e9 gu\u00e8re plus qu\u2019un corps en mouvement. Du reste, les visages sont masqu\u00e9s. Si l&#8217;on gagne certes en coh\u00e9rence g\u00e9n\u00e9rale du spectacle, on perd en revanche en individualit\u00e9 &#8211; or, c&#8217;est une partie de l&#8217;art vivant.<br>To be honest, we have the impression that the performers are like interchangeable tokens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And that's also true for the scenes as well.<br>For instance, a performer is brought to us, disguised as a black spider. Fine. Then she basically puts down her hairy legs and does her scene, as it could have been done in any other circus show !<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"760\" height=\"564\" src=\"https:\/\/volkanartz.chauss.in\/app\/uploads\/2026\/04\/image-6.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1893\" style=\"width:499px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/volkanartz.chauss.in\/app\/uploads\/2026\/04\/image-6.png 760w, https:\/\/volkanartz.chauss.in\/app\/uploads\/2026\/04\/image-6-250x186.png 250w, https:\/\/volkanartz.chauss.in\/app\/uploads\/2026\/04\/image-6-16x12.png 16w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 760px) 100vw, 760px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The question of Art in the circus<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yul Brynner nous r\u00e9v\u00e8le dans l&#8217;introduction au livre &#8220;l\u2019art de l\u2019acteur&#8221; (de Michael Chekhov), qu\u2019il officiait dans ses jeunes ann\u00e9es (autour de 1935) en tant que trap\u00e9ziste, au Cirque d&#8217;Hiver, \u00e0 Paris.<br>Mais comme il souhaitait int\u00e9grer une composante artistique \u00e0 son travail, il \u00e9tait aussi clown &#8211; c&#8217;\u00e9tait donc un &#8220;clown volant&#8221; !<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cette question de l&#8217;int\u00e9gration de l&#8217;art au cirque n&#8217;est pas nouvelle et elle revient, encore et encore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Je me souviens ainsi d&#8217;un soir, o\u00f9 j&#8217;assistais \u00e0 Paris aux repr\u00e9sentations finales de la tourn\u00e9e des apprentis circassiens du Centre National du Cirque (CNAC) de Ch\u00e2lons-En-Champagne.<br>L\u00e0 aussi, un num\u00e9ro \u00e9poustouflant chassait l&#8217;autre, ce qui devenait un peu redondant\u2026 et je commen\u00e7ais donc \u00e0 m&#8217;ennuyer malgr\u00e9 tout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Soudain, un homme parait sur la piste. He came to the circus, hoping to bring back something artistic that it had lost.<br>En d\u00e9pit de ses efforts, c&#8217;\u00e9tait bel et bien peine perdue : le cirque est un syst\u00e8me, focalis\u00e9 sur le divertissement et difficile \u00e0 r\u00e9former seul. Et bien tant pis &#8211; en l&#8217;occurrence, son retour \u00e0 la danse n&#8217;en a pas moins \u00e9t\u00e9 formidable\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let's meditate it, shall we ?
